The London Borough of Hounslow lies in west London and covers a wide area including Hounslow town centre, Brentford, Chiswick, Feltham, Heston, Isleworth, Cranford, Bedfont, Hanworth, Whitton and Osterley. Bin collections are managed directly by Hounslow Council. Hounslow operates a multi-container recycling system that is one of the most comprehensive in London. General household waste is collected fortnightly in a black 140-litre wheelie bin. Only waste that cannot be recycled in any other container should go in the black bin. Recycling is collected weekly, but Hounslow uses three separate containers to maximise what can be recycled. A red box is for plastic bottles and metal cans (food tins and drink cans). Subscribers receive a brown bin that is collected fortnightly. The brown bin accepts grass cuttings, leaves, hedge clippings, prunings, weeds and small branches. Garden waste does not appear in your collection schedule unless you have an active paid subscription. Collection days vary by street across the borough.
