Buckinghamshire Council Bin Collection Dates

Buckinghamshire Council, a unitary authority formed in April 2020 from the merger of Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks, and Wycombe district councils, operates a five-stream kerbside collection service for around 220,000 households. Food waste is collected weekly in a small green caddy — residents can put all food scraps in it, including cooked and uncooked meat, dairy, fruit, and vegetable peelings. General household waste goes into the grey wheelie bin and is collected fortnightly. On the alternate fortnightly week, three further streams are collected together: mixed recycling (plastic bottles and containers, cans, glass, and cartons), paper and cardboard, and a small blue box for clothing, small batteries, and small electrical items such as phones and toasters. Paper and cardboard must be placed loose in the recycling bin alongside mixed recycling — do not bag it. Bank holiday periods may shift your collection by one day; Buckinghamshire Council publishes a revised schedule on its website and the bin checker will reflect any changes. If your bin is missed, report it by 8am the following working day via the council website or by calling 0300 131 6000. Buckinghamshire operates several Household Waste Recycling Centres across the county, including sites at Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Amersham, and Princes Risborough, accepting bulky items, garden waste, paint, electricals, and wood. Some sites require an advance booking — check before visiting at buckinghamshire.gov.uk.

Collection frequency: Food waste: weekly. General waste: fortnightly. Mixed recycling: fortnightly (alternate weeks). Paper and cardboard: fortnightly (same day as recycling). Textiles/batteries/electricals: fortnightly (same day as recycling).
