Leeds City Council Bin Collection Dates

Leeds City Council provides kerbside bin collections to around 330,000 households across the city and its surrounding towns and villages, making it the largest local authority in Yorkshire. Most households receive three-stream fortnightly collections: a black wheelie bin for general household waste — non-recyclable items that cannot go elsewhere — and a green wheelie bin for mixed recycling including paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, cans, tins, and plastic bottles and containers, collected on alternating fortnights so that a bin is collected every week. A brown wheelie bin for garden waste — including grass clippings, leaves, plants, and small branches — is available as a subscription through the Leeds Garden Waste Service, also collected fortnightly. Residents can confirm their specific collection day and which week their bins are due using their postcode on the Leeds City Council website. Bank holiday collections may be rescheduled — Leeds publishes revised dates online, and affected collections are typically moved to the following working day. Missed collections should be reported within 24 hours via the Leeds City Council website or by calling 0113 222 4406. Leeds operates four Household Waste Sites for materials not accepted at the kerbside, including bulky waste, electricals, batteries, paint, wood, plasterboard, and textiles: Kirkstall Road (LS4 2AW), Seacroft (LS14 1NH), Middleton (LS10 3TN), and Swillington (LS26 8QA).
