Wakefield Council Bin Collection Dates

Wakefield Council collects household waste (black bin) and mixed recycling (green bin) on fortnightly schedules across the district, which covers Wakefield city, Castleford, Pontefract, Ossett, Normanton, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley and the surrounding towns and villages of West Yorkshire. Household waste and garden waste are collected on the same day, with mixed recycling collected on the alternate week. The green bin accepts paper, card, cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastic bottles and containers — all should be clean, dry, and loose (not in bags). The black bin should only contain waste that cannot be recycled. Garden waste is an optional subscription service collected fortnightly on the same day as your household waste. The brown bin accepts grass clippings, leaves, hedge trimmings, weeds and small branches. To subscribe or check your current subscription, visit the Wakefield Council website. Garden waste is not collected if the subscription is not active. If your collection falls on a bank holiday, Wakefield Council will usually collect on the next working day.
