Belfast City Council Bin Collection Dates

Belfast City Council collects four separate bin streams on a fortnightly rota across the city. The blue bin takes mixed dry recycling including paper, card, plastic bottles and containers, metal cans, and food and drink cartons — all clean and loose, not in plastic bags. The purple box is for glass bottles and jars only, rinsed and with lids removed. The brown bin collects garden and food waste together: grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings, fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags, and cooked and uncooked food. Use compostable liner bags or newspaper to line the bin. The black bin is for non-recyclable household waste — anything that cannot go in the other three containers. Collections alternate fortnightly: your blue recycling bin is collected one week, then your glass box, compost bin and black bin are all collected the following fortnight.
