Lambeth Council serves approximately 130,000 households across inner south London, covering Brixton, Clapham, Streatham, Stockwell, Waterloo, Kennington, Herne Hill and West Norwood.
General waste (black bin), recycling (blue bin) and food waste are all collected weekly. There is no alternate-week arrangement in Lambeth — all three collections happen on the same day each week. Place your bin or caddy at the kerb by 7 am on your collection day.
Recycling in Lambeth goes into the blue bin. Glass bottles and jars are accepted in the blue bin alongside paper, card, plastics, tins and cans — there is no separate glass box. Rinse containers before recycling. Shredded paper should be placed in a sealed bag before going in the blue bin.
Garden waste (green bin) is collected fortnightly under a paid annual subscription scheme. Only properties that have subscribed will receive a garden waste collection. Subscriptions can be arranged through the Lambeth Council website.
Food waste is collected weekly in a small caddy. Lambeth accepts all cooked and uncooked food waste including meat, fish, dairy, fruit and vegetable peelings and teabags. Caddy liners are available free from Lambeth Council libraries and service points.
Lambeth does not operate its own Household Waste Recycling Centre. The nearest sites are at Smugglers Way, Wandsworth (open daily) and Old Kent Road, Southwark. If a collection is missed, report it online at lambeth.gov.uk or call 020 7926 9000 within 24 hours.
