BCP Council (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) serves around 195,000 households across the three towns. General waste (black bin) and recycling (blue bin) alternate fortnightly — they are never collected on the same day. Food waste is collected weekly. The black bin is for non-recyclable household waste. The blue bin accepts paper and card (flattened), glass bottles and jars, food tins, drink cans, plastic bottles, tubs and trays — clean and loose, no bags. The food caddy (23L) accepts all cooked and uncooked food waste weekly — available across Bournemouth and Christchurch and rolling out to Poole. The green garden bin (paid subscription) is collected fortnightly February to December, accepting grass clippings, leaves, hedge trimmings and plants. Bins must be out by 7am.
