Bradford Council Bin Collection Dates

Bradford Council provides kerbside collections across the Bradford Metropolitan District, covering Bradford city, Keighley, Shipley, Bingley, Ilkley and the surrounding towns and villages — around 228,000 households in total. Collections follow a fortnightly rolling schedule, alternating general waste and recycling so most properties receive a collection every week. Full service information is at bradford.gov.uk/bins.

Bradford uses an unusual colour scheme. The green bin is for general household waste — non-recyclable items that cannot go in any other bin. The grey bin is for dry mixed recycling: paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars, food tins, drink cans and aerosols — flatten cardboard and rinse containers before putting them out. Both bins are collected fortnightly on the same day of the week, alternating each fortnight so that one is collected every week. A brown bin garden waste service is available as an optional paid subscription: grass cuttings, leaves, twigs, plants and flowers collected approximately every four weeks, typically March to December.

Bank holiday collections are typically moved to the following working day; check bradford.gov.uk for a revised Christmas and New Year schedule each year. All bins should be out by 6am on collection day.

Bradford has two main Household Waste Recycling Centres: Bowling Back Lane HWRC (BD4 8SH) and Allerton Road HWRC (BD15 7RN), both open seven days a week for bulky items, electricals, paint, garden waste and other materials not collected kerbside. Visit bradford.gov.uk for full opening hours.
