Royal Borough of Greenwich Bin Collection Dates

The Royal Borough of Greenwich collects green top bins (food and garden waste) and blue top bins (recycling) every week from most houses. The black top bin (general waste) is collected fortnightly on either Week A or Week B, alternating with your neighbours. The green top bin accepts all food waste including cooked and raw meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, bread and dairy. It also accepts garden waste such as grass cuttings, leaves, small branches and hedge trimmings. No bags in the green bin — please empty food waste directly. The blue top bin accepts paper and card (flattened), glass bottles and jars, food tins and drink cans, aerosols, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, cartons and foil. Items should be clean and rinsed but do not need to be sorted. No plastic bags. The black top bin accepts any household waste that cannot be recycled. Bags must be securely tied. Greenwich asks residents to fill the black bin as little as possible — use the green and blue bins for all eligible items first. If your bin is missed, report it within 24 hours at royalgreenwich.gov.uk. Note: these dates apply to houses — flat residents should check with their building caretaker for shared bin schedules.

Collection frequency: Green top and blue top weekly; black top fortnightly (Week A or B).
