Medway Council collects all household waste services on the same day each week. A single weekly collection day covers refuse (black bin), recycling (brown bags or brown bins), food waste (caddy) and garden waste together — so you only need to remember one day.
The black refuse bin accepts non-recyclable household waste that cannot be recycled or composted. The brown bag or brown bin accepts paper, card, plastic bottles, glass, tins and cans — please rinse items and leave them loose, not bagged. The food waste caddy accepts all cooked and raw food scraps including meat, fish, dairy, bread, fruit and vegetables.
Garden waste collections accept grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings and small branches. Place bins at the kerbside by 7 am on your collection day. If your collection is missed, report it within 24 hours via the Medway Council website. Collections may change around bank holidays — check medway.gov.uk for confirmed alternative dates.
