Newham Council Bin Collection Dates

Newham Council collects household waste and recycling every week from around 130,000 homes across east London — including Stratford, West Ham, East Ham, Plaistow, Forest Gate, Canning Town, and the areas surrounding the 2012 Olympic Park. The black bin (domestic waste) is collected weekly and accepts all non-recyclable household waste that cannot go in the recycling or food bins. Items should be bagged and the lid should close fully. The blue bin is also collected weekly for mixed recycling — paper and cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and containers, food and drink cans, and aerosols. Rinse items clean before recycling; do not bag your recycling. Newham is rolling out a food waste caddy service across the borough. If the food waste collection appears on your results page, the service is available at your address — the caddy accepts cooked and raw food scraps in compostable bags, but no packaging, liquids, or non-food items. If it does not yet appear, check newham.gov.uk for rollout updates. A green waste collection runs seasonally from March to October at eligible addresses, accepting grass clippings, leaves, hedge trimmings and small branches.
