Wirral Council Bin Collection Dates

Wirral Council operates an unusual alternate-weekly collection system using green bins for non-recyclable household waste and grey bins for recycling — the reverse of most UK councils. The two bins are collected on alternate weeks, so a bin is collected every week at your address. The green bin accepts bagged non-recyclable household waste — anything that cannot be recycled or composted. The grey bin accepts paper and card (flattened), glass bottles and jars, aluminium and steel cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays. Items should be clean and dry and placed loose in the bin — do not put recyclables in carrier bags. Wirral does not currently operate a kerbside food waste collection. A garden waste collection service (brown bin) is available as a paid subscription, collected fortnightly from spring to autumn. If your collection falls on a bank holiday, Wirral Council will collect on the next working day — check the website for confirmed dates. For missed collections call 0151 606 2004.
